WHAT IS PROOF OF STAKE (PoS)?

PoS ensures the security of the blockchain by handing over dependence on all owners of the underlying asset

Where proof of Work (PoW) protocols derive security by many computers trying to solve a hard puzzle, Proof of Stake(PoS) ensures the security of the blockchain by handing over the dependence on all owners of the underlying asset (in our case ADA, AKA ‘Cardano’). Owners of the asset then ‘back’ or ‘delegate’ their portion to trusted nodes that validate the blockchain.

By delegating their assets owners are rewarded proportionally to their amount ‘staked’ to a ‘stake-pool’.
